57th Annual K-State Rodeo this weekend

Cowboys and cowgirls from throughout Kansas and Oklahoma will be in Manhattan this weekend.

“The 57th annual K-State Rodeo is the first rodeo of the spring season for the Central Plains Region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association,” announced Beth McQuade, advisor of the K-State Rodeo Club, rodeo coordinators.

“There are four performances scheduled Friday evening through Sunday afternoon, Feb. 22-23-24, at Weber Arena on the K-State campus,” said Doug Muller, K-State Rodeo Team coach.

Kickoff performance will be Friday evening, at 7:30. It has been designated as “Tough Enough to War Pink Night, by the Collegiate Cattle Women and Sigma Alpha, as an effort to increase cancer awareness and treatment.

The Saturday afternoon matinee, at 1 o’clock, will be free to children 12 years of age and under, with the purchase of an adult ticket, and the donation of two can goods to the Flint Hills Breadbasket.

Highlight of the Saturday evening performance is the Miss Rodeo K-State Coronation at 6:45, and rodeo competition gets underway at 7:30.

Rodeo dances have been scheduled following both Friday and Saturday evening performances at RC McGraws.

Cowboy Church is Sunday morning at 10 a.m., with Military Appreciation Sunday as a special recognition, during the K-State Rodeo Finals Performance at 1 p.m.
