Happiest New Year Will Be As Directed

This second is the beginning of the rest of one’s life on earth.

Consequently, it’s smartest to live that remaining time here to the fullest. How to do that might seem simple initially, yet doing it can be quite complicated. One could compare the situation to winning a million dollars. Many dream to be rich with money, but those who are often don’t know what to do and waste it foolishly, records indicate.

Comparable is our life. It is our greatest fortune to live in this world today. With another decade ending and a new year arising, thoughts of setting resolutions abound in minds, conversations and media reports. Despite individual hardships, most in this country are well off compared to many others in the world.

Finances are tight in certain places, some can’t find work, and others are without what they consider adequate food, clothing and shelter. Yet, with exceptions, when there is a will, there is a way. Charities on all levels are ready to assist those in need.

Maybe it’s not to the level of affluence the poor would like, but it is better than the majority around the globe. Generally, there is employment available. The problem seems to be that those who can’t find work just don’t really want to do tasks that are available.

So they do nothing, collect unemployment paid by our taxes and complain about everything. We don’t want to dig ditches or scrub floors, but those jobs pay the bills.

Media indicates the most common new year’s resolution in this country is to lose weight. If society overall has that has the main objective, the country as a whole must be all right.

As goals are set, instead of wanting to win a prize, get a new house, a new car, a fancy set of clothes or take an around-the-world vacation, we should appreciate what we have more? Are all of those so-called luxuries going to make us any happier?

Living life to the best we can is being satisfied with the blessings we already have and doing what God has planned. That is a worrisome undertaking, because his directions aren’t always that clear to an old cowboy.

However, we intend to become more fit, more efficient, more loving and do exactly what we are supposed to do. To accomplish this will be getting the maximum out of our life on earth.. The only way we know how is to seek God’s guidance in prayer: “Please make the instructions most obvious.”

It is told in Genesis 13:17: “Go and walk through the land in every direction, for I am giving it to you.” Advice is given in Psalm 119:59: “I pondered the direction of my life, and I turned to follow your laws.” The Lord repeats his prayer in Matthew 6:10: “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.”
