Pramila Venkateswaran, poet laureate from Suffolk County, New York, will perform a reading and host a conversation, Sunday, June 1, 1:30 p.m., at Pioneer Bluffs near Matfield Green.
“Inspiration is always within you,” Venkateswaran said. “Writing uses resources within your reach including the richness of your inner world, and the sensory experiences of the external world.”
She will lead a discussion on writing, the purpose of poetry, and organizing a writer’s group.
After performing a reading of her own work, Venkateswaran is expected to invite others to read. She has also welcomed attendees to bring their own favorite poem to share.
“I live my life in widening circles that reach out across the world’,” Venkateswaran commented. “I feel poetry has a ripple effect as it transforms the listener in some small way, and that shift in consciousness is priceless.”
