Cool evening makes for ultimate excitement as record crowd applauds bull riders

Fall had set in, and the bulls were sure feeling their oats, but it all added to the excitement making a record topping Flint Hills Bull Blowout at Strong City.

“The cool weather made us concerned whether we’d get a crowd, but people brought their jackets and came in record numbers to our fifth annual jackpot bull riding competition,” said Kim Reyer, event coordinator.

Chase County Teams Win Ranch Rodeos

Buck Creek-Lonesome Pine Ranches of Chase County dominated ranch rodeo competitions sponsored by the Morris County Youth  Rodeo Association Sunday at the arena east of Council Grove.

In the Youth Ranch Rodeo during the morning, the Buck Creek-Lonesome Pine team of Sammy Jo Peterson, Mackenzie Higgs and Michelle Patry placed first. The threesome won the ribbon roping and placed second in calf branding en route to the championship. Continue reading →
