Results Told From Annual Rodeo At Kansas State University

It’s in the books, and recorded as one of the best in 67 years.

“That’s the 58th K-State Rodeo, and the 67th year of rodeos at Kansas State University in Manhattan,” calculated Beth McQuade, advisor for the K-State Rodeo Club, event sponsor.

“We had 422 contestants enter the recent 2014 K-State Rodeo representing the Central Plains Region of Kansas and Oklahoma in the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association. Dell Hall of the Rafter H Rodeo Company at Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Dale Hall provided the highest caliber of broncs and bulls that you will see at any level of competition,” McQuade assured.

Biggest accomplishments for K-State, according to rodeo team coach Doug Muller, were that two  K-Staters won their events: Tanner Brunner in steer wrestling, and Shelby Leonhard in goat tying.

Shelby Leonard, agriculture economics student from Oskaloosa, won the goat tying event and also competed in barrel racing and breakaway roping en route to be named the Women’s All-Around Award winner at the recent K-State Rodeo in Manhattan.

“Shelby won the Women’s All-Around Award for also competing in barrel racing and breakaway roping,” Muller credited.

Danielle Stuerman, rodeo club treasurer, was crowned as Miss Rodeo K-State 2014, by  Miss Rodeo K-State 2013, Lindy Singular.

Complete rodeo results were announced by McQuade, who is stepping down from her position as the club advisor, to pursue and serve other career and family endeavors.
