Morris County 4-H Foundation Presents Awards At Lifetime Member Banquet

Recognition awards were presented as a highlight of the Morris County 4-H Foundation Lifetime Member Banquet Friday evening at the First Baptist Church in Council Grove.

Don and Dean Day (seated front) accepted the Doris Day Silver Memorial Award, and Gary Burton, Priscilla Burton Chansky and Larry Burton accepted the Ruth Burton Bronze Memorial Award at the Morris County 4-H Foundation Lifetime Recognition Banquet Friday evening in Council Grove.

Silver Memorial Award was presented as a Doris Day Memorial, with her sons Don and Dean Day accepting the plaque.

Bronze Memorial Award was given as a Ruth Burton Memorial, and her daughter Priscilla Burton Chansky and sons Gary and Larry Burton accepted the honor.

Silver Award went to Rex Materials of Kansas, Inc., and Richard and Phyllis Visser. The Bronze Award was presented to David and Carolyn Andres and Charles and Merry Diane Rayl.

Lifetime Membership Awards went to Dale and Deb Andres, Darrell and Barbara Harkness, Jernigan Veterinary Clinics, Dale and Elaine Jones, Jay and Elaine Pucket and Margaret Waymire.

Morris County 4-H Club members who had received awards at the recent Regional 4-H Club Days in Madison presented the program.

Among honorees at the Morris County 4-H Foundation Lifetime Recognition Banquet Friday evening in Council Grove were Rex Materials of Kansas, Inc., Silver Award, accepted by Cathy Prudence; Charles and Merry Diane Rayl, Bronze Award; Phyllis and Richard Visser, Silver Award; and Carolyn and David Andres, Bronze Award.

Featured were:  skit, Flint Hills 4-H Club; project talk, Wyatt Buchman, Dwight Sunflowers 4-H; vocal solo, Hannah Stilwell, Willing Workers 4-H; project talk, Mackenzie Downs, Flint Hills 4-H; and team illustrated talk, Caleb Kirk and Levi Koepsel, Neosho Valley 4-H.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Sam Kirk, Neosho Valley 4-H, and Jess Prudence, Flint Hills 4-H, led the 4-H Pledge.

A Morris County 4-H Update was given by Chelsea Richmond, Extension family and consumer science agent.

During the business session, Connie Burton and Larry Johnson were re-elected to serve on the Morris County 4-H Foundation’s Board of Trustees.

Meal was prepared by the First Baptist Church Relay For Life Team, and served by the Morris County 4-H Ambassadors. Master of ceremonies for the banquet was Connie Burton, Foundation president, with the invocation by Mary Alice Waylan, secretary.Karen Meyers, trustee, introduced the guests and participants on the program. Minutes were presented by Mary Alice Waylan, and Larry Landgren, treasurer, gave the financial report. Frank Buchman and Larry Johnson, trustees, presented the recognition awards.
