Busy Family Entertainment Features For Osage County Fair At Osage City

Get ready for families working together and having a good time with an assortment of entertainment as well.

It’s the Osage County Fair at Osage City, Wednesday, July 10, through Saturday night, July 13, according to Josie Bosse.

A member of the hardworking Osage County Fair Board, Bosse promised: “Fun for all with entertainment for the entire family.”

At the fairgrounds, 170th Highway and Safford Street, in Osage City’s Jones Park, this will be a longtime tradition.

“The first fair was in 1946 and increasingly attracts spectators and participants from Osage County and northeast Kansas,” Bosse said.  “That’s for the 4-H and open class exhibits, parade, and music, plus carnival attractions with midway rides.”

Perhaps most importantly to a county fair, there’ll be livestock shows every day. Of course, competitions are also planned for most agriculture productions and vast rural domestic creations. The fair board is offering barn quilting classes for those interested.

Special food trucks are to be open Wednesday evening, July 10, for taste bud favoring and tantalizing. Entertainment by the Backyard Legends Band climaxes the day.

Barnyard Olympics testing abilities of participants doing farm tasks often in a uniquely enjoyable way is Thursday afternoon, July 11.

Family Fun Night is Thursday evening with the pie contest, a mechanical bull, climbing wall, bingo and disc jockey music.

The animal costume contest Friday afternoon, July 12, creates fun for those doing the dressing, spectators and maybe animals, too.

Highlight of fair week is the parade, “Fresh From The Farm,” down Osage City’s Main Street Friday evening at 6:30. An array of entries local and afar is expected with participation invited or bring a lawn chair to watch.

A homemade ice cream social fundraiser provides cool off as a talent show concludes the busy Friday.

Saturday, July 13, is jam packed with a car show, Touch A Truck, and Corn Hole Tournament. Pay time for youth fair exhibitors is the evening livestock auction, and the Brickhouse Band concert concludes the fair.

There’ll be commercial vendors set up during the fair which offers convenient handicapped access and designated parking. Importantly public transportation is available for those seeking rides to the fairgrounds.
