Six-Year-Old Jesse Learns About Heaven During Fishing Trip With Dad

It’s a children’s book with appropriate illustrations for the kids, yet “What Is Heaven Like” should be read by everybody.

The fast-read 36-page softcover book by Rev. Richard R. Eng, Holdrege, Nebraska, answers a son’s questions about Heaven.

Eng decided to write the story after his wife experienced a miscarriage. He would never be able to have such a conversation with their unborn son.

In an imaginative discussion during a fishing trip, Dad tells his six-year-old Jesse about the glorious wonders of Heaven.

Mind wandering while waiting for a fish to bite, inquisitive Jesse becomes confused about his Dad’s responses.

“There are no bad things in Heaven, as it will be filled with all goodness,” Dad assured.

Living on earth can often be foggy and murky like the fishing hole. In Heaven, God gives everyone a new body to see “the Real Sun rising on a clear day.”

There’ll be singing in Heaven, but also work to be done, displeasing to Jesse. “God will give us meaningful, mentally-fulfilling work we’ve always wanted to do,” Dad insisted making Jesse happy.

When the fish finally took to Jesse’s bait, Dad explained, “Heaven will give us similar vibration in our heart. That feeling, or longing, is inside all of us. It’s pointing to something better and something greater.”

Jesse was excited. “I wonder what job God will give me in Heaven. I can’t wait to find out.”

Jose Tecson’s colorful artwork brings Heaven to life on hearth in this heartwarming satisfying look at every believer’s eternal hereafter.
