“Divorce is not always a bad word.”
Despite broadscale Bible interpretations, most religions are against divorces despite high percentage of marriages today ending that way.
Most pastors and lay leaders often refer to Matthew 19:6: “So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
Then in support of that passage is quoted Malachi 2:16: “I hate divorce, said the Lord God of Israel.”
Without doubt He is against separation of married man and woman. However, there are many exceptions to both passages with no less than two dozen Bible verses referring to divorces.
Believing marriage is everlasting Kirk and Deborah Taylor carefully studied all these verses throughout decades. Knowing God is love, they were in loveless marriages with an assortment of spousal abuses.
Dedicated studiers of the Bible with fervent endless prayer seeking God’s guidance they both divorced spouses of many years.
Initially seeing divorce as “the way out,” the couple found it more difficult than ever imaginable. Community, friends, family, and majority look down on discriminate against divorces, sometimes even unintentionally.
“Should You Stay Or Should You Go” is the book written by the now happily married heartfelt loving couple Kirk and Deborah Taylor.
It is an inspiring personal story of a couple who found happiness when God brought them together following difficult decisions to divorce.
“Each person’s story is a thread in the tapestry of Heaven,” according to cover passage on the sky-blue paperback book.
Kirk and Deborah each tell their God-fearing personal ever faithful stories alternating from one chapter to the next.
While the book could be described “controversial,” even declared against “God’s Will,” that is not accurate.
Neither Kirk nor Deborah wanted divorces despite nearly unimaginable widely varied abuses. Each was in constant prayer to “do what God” intended for them, their spouses, all their family, and everybody involved.
Well-educated, highly intelligent, successful in material, and business matters, their belief was spiritual; praying in the “gift of tongues.” That is personal spiritual praying utter speech-like sounds in languages unknown to the speaker.
Easy but deep thought-provoking reading, the couple’s views are supported by Biblical passages studying every issue from God’s perspective. They always wanted to do what God wanted for team, despite public opinions in contradiction.
This is probably not a book for everybody, but it has merit to clarify any prejudiced opinions about divorce
Divorce is mentioned several times in both the Old and New Testament. God hates divorce, yet there are exceptions where divorce is allowed in scripture.
