Breakaway Roping Winners Named At EquiFest Of Kansas

Winners in the breakaway roping competition during the EquiEest of Kansas at Salina have been announced by Justine Staten.

The open roping was sponsored by the Kansas Horse Council at Manhattan where State serves as executive secretary.

Carlee Potter of Latham won a total of $3,128 with 9.86-seconds accumulative time on three calves in the open short go-round.

Taylor Raupe of Douglass collected $2,346 for her 10.69-seconds accumulative time in the open short go-round.

Kristy Stover of Abilene roped three calves in the open short go-round in 19.56-seconds to win $783.

Fasted time in the open go-round one was 3.02-seconds by Madison Scott of Pomona to win $400. Taylor Lagasse, Aurora, roped her calf in 3.12-seconds to win $300.

Brylee Zook, Garnett, won $400 for roping her calf in 2.66-secods in the open go-round two. Raupe added $300 for her 2.82-seconds catch.

Winning the short round of the junior division were Mya Arndt, 13.25-seconds on three, $928; Sage Putnam, Pretty Prairie, 13.87-seconds, $696; and Makayla, Matile, Emporia, 7.15-seconds on two head, $232.

Brekyn Zook of Garnett placed first place in both the first and second go-rounds of the junior competition each worth $200. She roped her first calf in 2.85-seconds and her second calf in 2.95-seconds.

Makayla Matile was second in the junior first go-round one with 3.35-seconds to win $150. Ava Chad, Macksville, was second in the junior go-round two with 3.38-seconds also worth $150.
