“The Broken House” is a no-stop reading book comparing remodeling a dilapidated country home with restoration of a difficult marriage. “The Story of Home Renovation, Remodeling, and Restoration” is authored by an intelligent ambitious devout couple. Apparently affluent, they face many challenges financially and with the house restructuring but more so in their marriage. Each setback in the old home renovation is directly compared with their efforts to save and have a lifetime dedicated marriage. Burgess Mitchell, highly educated athlete with personal infidelity issues, and his wife Dr. Lindsay Evans-Mitchell, medical doctor-lawyer turned psychiatrist, alternately relate their opinions and philosophies of the true story. Every situation has a direct correlation with Bible text referred to concisely with all aspects of their many tribulations. Scriptural references are from the New King James Bible. They share and compare the home remodeling with their infidelity and divorce issues as a direct route for emotional and relationship healing. Each chapter concludes with journaling, prayer, or discussion exercises, enabling readers to actively engage with the content and apply the lessons to their lives. The book includes professional advice and insights to help build positive relationships many couples must work through. Complex mental and physical issues arise for both the man and women and must be overcome before they can move forward. Receiving grace is the process of restoration which starts with praying to God and acknowledging need for His help. Outcome is not predictable as God works in his own often seemingly peculiar way. Patience is required as the answer to every situation will always unimaginably come in its own time. It is always “worth the wait” to be together at last in marriage, family, mind, and eternal spiritual soul. That’s best verified in Psalm 46:10: “Be still and know.” In summarization agreement, the husband and wife “must ask for the Holy Spirit who brings the gift of grace.” Book concludes with a renovation prayer emphasizing that no pain means no change. There must be resurrection for a completely new union with an inside and outside makeover. It’s a supernatural faith that no matter how difficult things are, the potential is worth the investment and wait to be restored. According to Second Corinthians 5:17: “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. Old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.” Available in softcover, hardcover, and electronic formats on WestBow Press, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble, the book is promoted by Ashley Fletcher, LAVIDGE Publicity, who can be contacted at afletcher@lavidge.com. +++30+++
