Community Appreciation Day is what the long traditional Old Settlers Day celebration has been tagged this Saturday, Sept. 27, at Alta Vista. According to Pam McDiffett, city official, the Alta Vista Chamber of Commerce has a full slate of activities for all ages scheduled all day throughout the rural western Wabaunsee County community.

While many rural Kansas communities started earlier, and at about the same time, no longer exist, Alta Vista continues with stable population, an active business district and the always-critical schools.
Corn Picking And Quilt Show Saturday At Alta Vista’s Ag Heritage Park
It’ll be a “step back in time” at Alta Vista on Saturday. “Old-fashioned corn harvest will highlight activities planned at Ag Heritage Park on the south edge of Alta Vista, which will be celebrating its 125th anniversary during the annual Old Settlers Day celebration, on September 22,” announced Connie Larson, park board president.
