Cowboys Show Their Professional Best At EquiFest Ranch Rodeos

“Working on a ranch is far from a definite science, yet when work must be done, cowboy abilities come to the forefront.”

Factualness of that comment could not be more apparent than outcome at the ranch rodeos featured as Saturday and Sunday evening attractions during the recent EquiFest of Kansas in Topeka.

Doing what they do every day in their profession as working cowboys, competition rose to highest levels as champion team the first night attempted to prove it wasn’t just a quirk of fate that they won, but rather best ability all-around team.

It was close, but not quite as Lonesome Pine Ranch from Cedar Point the Saturday winners were bested by the Robbins Ranch-Keith Cattle Company team from Lyon County on Sunday.

Still, Lonesome Pine did come in second, according to Scott Tucker, ranch rodeo coordinator.

Second in Saturday’s rodeo was the Rezac Land & Livestock team from Onaga, while the Arndt-Bailey  Ranches team from Lyon, Chase and Greenwood counties came in third.

Travis Duncan of that night’s first place team rode the Top Horse at Saturday’s rodeo.

Third place team at the Sunday rodeo was Beachner Brothers  Livestock from Erie, while Adrian Vogel, Cottonwood Falls cowboy, representing the first place team collected the Top Horse Award.
