Farmer’s Wife To Sign Life’s Storybook At Alta Vista Park

The book “From High Heels To Gumboots, One Cow Pie at a Time” is a true tale of a city girl becoming a farmer’s wife.

“It’s a hilarious and enlightening story that just about anybody would enjoy reading and learn more about life, and certainly more about agriculture and the farm,” according to Hazel Zimmerman at Ag Heritage Park in Alta Vista.

“This is June Hilbert’s true life story, and the author will be here in person to talk about her experiences during a book talk and signing this Saturday morning, May 31, 11 o’clock, at Ag Heritage Park in Alta Vista,” Zimmerman said.

Briefly, the book takes readers through Hilbert’s journey from working fulltime at a financial institution to being a ‘farm wife,’ helping run a cow-calf operation on their farm northeast of Topeka.

“June grew up in Burlingame, never giving thought to living on a farm. Through her book talk, she will take listeners and readers through a journey with cow pies, ‘marginally unfit mother cows,’ and ‘other gross things,’ where actually lots of love are found.”

Zimmerman insisted,” June’s humorous, insightful presentation of ‘I Am A Farm Wife’ will delight all ages. She will make you laugh at her sometimes messy and always entertaining entrance into the world of farming.

“Come and meet June Hilbert at Ag Heritage Park, 103 South Main, Alta Vista, and pick up a copy of her new book. Refreshments will be available during the program,” Zimmerman welcomed.

City-wide garage sales are also planned Saturday in Alta Vista, where antique-collectable shops and eating establishments will be open.

Information is available from Zimmerman at 785-482-3865.
