Season’s Reason Most Important

“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.”

Can’t sing bearably as verified by Maggie the mare’s evil eye when attempting to carol as we open her stall door.

So, writing reflection is best can be done for the popular holiday tune often recorded by talented crooners.

Halloween orange turned Christmas red and green the first of November, almost bypassing Thanksgiving seemingly, as the commercialization began.

Pace increased into December with every conversation directed toward the day.

Decorations are pleasantly appealing yet can’t help but think how high some folk’s electric bills are climbing.

Pastures’ red cedars continue growing, as the eight-foot green fake tree with 100s twinkling bulbs adorns the living room. Makes an old cowboy’s heart aglow as well

A lighted running horse replica in the front yard appropriate for this ranch, continuing with admiration from passersby.

Cards in the mailbox add to season joy. They’re from friends touched in every aspect of life. Especially pleasing are those from ones’ horses ridden and sold to through decades. Only contact nowadays, but most pleasant memories.

Some folks are dreaming of a white Christmas, and the advance frosting appealing. That’ll be enough.

Weatherman Dan Holiday brought dinner last week, and gave us a new Farmer’s Almanac. Forecast is “possible light snow, but it‘ll be mild.” Yet, the educated-predictor admitted he really doesn’t know; weather’s always changing.

Cookies, candy and variations of good tasting fattening food to eat are sign of the season, too. Office ladies’ baking plus generous daily food bearers in the door, our misdirected calisthenics program’s sure not keeping up.

Tis the season of giving, and receiving. Shopping for others is difficult; never knowing what will be liked, or pitched away. Boxed fruit bought from grandson for ag club sales project is to be distributed as some. Not anything we need, but always get something and most appreciated.

Trouble is the real meaning of Christmas is generally ignored. Even worse, some don’t even have a clue what it’s all about.

Christmas is a birthday party for Jesus Christ, the reason to celebrate. It’s time for hearts to fill with joy over the birth of The Savior.

Reminds us of Luke 2:1-20: “In the town of David, a Savior has been born to you. He is the Messiah, the Lord. His name is Jesus.”
