Thomas K. Reed Memorial Ranch Rodeo Saturday At Council Grove

Ranch rodeo teams have been extended a special invitation to participate in the Thomas K. Reed Memorial Ranch Rodeo at Council Grove Saturday afternoon, Oct. 25.

“In memory of Thomas K. Reed, a young rancher  and enthusiastic ranch rodeo competitor who lost his life in a horse related ranching accident, we are again coordinating the rodeo to benefit the Fallen Cowboy Fellowship Cowboy Church,” according to Jason Gibson, who has been instrumental in coordinating the competition for several years.

Events in the four-cowboy ranch team competition are to include team sorting, calf branding, team doctoring, trailer loading and double mugging.

There is to be a $400 entry per team, with awards to include buckles for the first place team, and cash payback for the top four teams. A token admission is to be charged at the entrance gate, with children ten and under admitted free.

Starting at 2 o’clock, the competition will be at the Morris County Youth Rodeo Association Arena, just east of Council Grove on Highway 56.

Entries should be made with Jason or Mandy Gibson, 1923 County Road 360, Reading, Kansas, 66868, 785-289-0095
