Horseback Speedsters Collect Paychecks At EquiFest Of Kansas

Fastest contestants in barrel racing and pole bending were well rewarded with payback checks at the EquiFest Of Kansas in Salina, said Justine Staten, executive director of the Kansas Horse Council, event sponsor.

Top money taker in barrel racing was open 1D winner Lisa Kisner riding Rakinina Fortune to collect $217 for a 16.029-seconds run.

Completing the open 1D top-four barrel racers were Kelly Forell, Cowboys Grinning, $163, 16.136-seconds; Rhonda Beecher, Pouop, $109, 16.322-seconds; and Christa Williams, Goldseeker Rookie, $54, 16.469-seconds.

Open 2D: Avery Weis, Mr Showoff Wrangler, $186, 16.726; Kennedy Gibb, Naomi, $140, 16.781; Jed Ward, Phanton, $93, 16.829; and Lexi Wooten, Flyinlow Woody, $47, 16.947.

Fastest time and largest check in youth 1D barrel racing went to Kennedy Gibb on Naomi with a 16.347-seconds run worth $248. Avery Weis, Mr Showoff Wrangler was second with 16.416-second to win $152.

Hanna Lee won the youth 1D pole bending to collect $28.56 for her 23.383-seconds run.
