Breakaway Ropers Collect Paychecks For Fast Runs At EquiFest Of Kansas

It paid big money to be the fastest breakaway ropers at the EquiFest Of Kansas at Salina, according to Justine State, executive director of the Kansas Horse Council, EquiFest sponsor.

Biggest check of the day went to Winter Williams collecting $1,231 for an average time of 7.53-seconds in the open division.

Micah Samples won $1,070 for her average time of 9.61-seconds in the open competition.

Completing the top eight open division check winners for their average times in order were Jenna Dally, $910, 10.31-seconds; Brandi Buzzard, $749, 14.12-sconds; Baylee Barker, $589, 64.72-seconds; Taylor Raupe, $428, 65.12-seconds; Kate Thompson, $268, 65.63-seconds; and Sami O’Day, $107, 66.2-seconds.

In the youth breakaway roping, top check was $625 to Sage Putnam for an average time of 15.85-seconds.

Ranking second and third for their average times in the youth breakaway division were Addy Tankersley, $375, 23.272-seconds, and Britni Zook, $250, 23.38-seconds.
